Case Description

WealthCraft is a comprehensive personal finance application designed to solve key pain points in financial management through smart automation, AI-powered insights, and personalized recommendations. As the Product Manager for this project, I led cross-functional teams to develop a solution that transforms how users track expenses, manage budgets, set saving goals, and receive investment suggestions.

The project emerged from recognizing significant gaps in the current personal finance application landscape, particularly around expense categorization, budget management, bill payment reminders, and investment tracking. With the personal finance mobile app market estimated at $2.9 billion in 2024 and projecting a 15.8% CAGR growth through 2034, we identified a substantial opportunity to create a solution that addresses these constraints.

Working closely with designers, engineers, data scientists, and financial analysts, we developed WealthCraft as a microservice-based platform that integrates with multiple financial data sources to provide a holistic view of a user's financial health.

Problem Statement

Our market research and user interviews revealed several critical pain points that users face when managing their finances:

• Overwhelming financial data leading to confusion and poor decision-making
• Difficulty maintaining budgets and saving for long-term goals
• Limited access to affordable financial advice
• Fear of financial mistakes and debt accumulation

These pain points manifested differently across user segments:

• Early career professionals struggled with tracking daily expenses and lacked knowledge about investment
• Family-oriented managers juggled various household expenses while trying to save for long-term goals
• Freelancers/entrepreneurs faced challenges with inconsistent income patterns, making budgeting difficult

Technical challenges included: • Integration with multiple financial data sources (banks, credit cards, investment platforms) • Creating accurate AI-powered categorization systems • Developing personalized recommendation engines that adapt to diverse financial situations • Ensuring data security and privacy across all touchpoints
